Past Member's Top Tips for Success

1. Journal, Journal, Journal. Write everything down. Write down notes as you watch modules. Write down questions. Write down your reframes. Write down reflections. Write down your intentions. Keep a journal. If journaling feels challenging, remember you can do hard things. I hated journaling but it is so helpful when you want to reflect back on something or see how far you’ve come.

*You are 42% more likely to do something if you write it down*

2. Give yourself time. When I started, I told myself it would take a year. I hoped for less, but in my head, I dedicated to a year (Marissa said this in a call once). This allowed me to slow down and remind myself this wasn’t a race. I didn’t learn diet culture overnight, so I wasn’t going to unlearn it overnight. Patience is key.

3. Watch and re-watch the modules. When I got ahead, I missed things. Then I would go back and re-watch a module and be like “ohhhhhh THAT’s what she meant”. You learn something new every time you watch one. Repetition helps it click and helps it stick.

4. When the going gets tough–SIT IN THE SUCK! Going back to dieting is not the answer. Marissa is really helpful at reassuring you and problem-solving when you need. Trust her. Sit in the suck with her and the other members.

5. Have things outside of this. You are going to spend a lot of time over the next few months thinking about this. You’re going to be curiously paying attention to your body, binges, feelings, emotions, thoughts, etc. At some points throughout the journey, it feels like a LOT. That’s when I go back to my “values” and think about some other things I could add to my routines to take some of the pressure off. For me, it was rollerblading. One day, things will just “click” and you won’t have to think about it as much.
